Performer - Teacher - Choreographer

Al Evangelista is a performer, teacher, and choreographer currently in the MFA Dance program at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, Al is researching movement in interdisciplinary settings, in addition to, holistic performance and practice. He is on the Literary Circle for American Theatre Company and is an Ensemble Emeritus of Walkabout Theatre Company.

Al has choreographed works that have been performed at the University of Michigan Museum of Modern Art, Steppenwolf Garage, American Theatre Company, University of Chicago, Chicago’s Night Out in the Parks, Bharat Rang Mahotsav Festival, and Links Hall.

He has also danced in pieces for the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, The Inconvenience, Links Hall as well as acted and performed at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Adventure Stage Chicago, Haven Theatre Company, among others.

Al trained with the Steppenwolf West program, American Conservatory Theater, and is a graduate of UC San Diego.
